2024 was the year of the bow, champagne towers, parasols and heart shaped cakes – so which wedding trends are set to make bridal hearts flutter in 2025?
Wedding Trend #1 And the Bride Wore
At New York Bridal Fashion Week corsets, either exposed or within hidden boning, and sculpted waist-lines dominated the runways. Drop waist lines are here to stay in 2025, with basques using a V or U-shaped dip at the waist to really enhance figures and create gorgeous, goddess-like sculpted shapes. Savannah Miller’s Resonance bridal collection was actually inspired by sculptor John Gibson’s neo-classical ‘Pandora’ statue, with her designs all incorporate draping and fabric manipulation to create ultra flattering silhouettes.
Lace remains a firm favourite with bridal designers, but embellishments and textures have also been fully embraced. For brides looking to sparkle all day long beading, crystals and shimmering elements have been added to many gowns; while more fashion forward brides or those looking for a less traditional outfit can explore dresses made from different fabrics such as feathers, suede or iridescent materials, with or without sculptural embellishments.
Veils will continue to be popular in 2025 and are set to get bigger and/or more intricate. Brides looking to make a statement can opt for veils embellished with delicate pearls, sculptural florals, black accents or even have a bespoke love poem by the amazing Jen Feroze embroidered onto their veils – check out Rebecca Anne Designs for more gorgeous veil-spiration and advice.
The wedding trend for changing into a shorter dress to dance the night away in will again be popular in 2025 – from structured satin mini-dresses to silky slip dresses, there are a plethora of designs to choose from.
Trend #2 Wow Factor Wedding Florals
Statement floral designs are in for 2025, with the focus on creating eye-catching, memorable ceremony installations. Broken or full arches, semi-circle meadow designs and aisle designs are the perfect backdrops for your ceremony and photographs. Another option is to create a focal point in your celebration space – hanging clouds and chandeliers will add the wow-factor to any room. Grouping florals and using flowers with eye-catching shapes such as dahlias, full garden roses, peonies and hydrangeas will also help to create a beautiful backdrop or statement piece. More artistic designs are also set to feature prominently – think monochromatic clusters of green hydrangeas and amaranthus created to look like more modern art and sculptures – perfect for couples looking for something less traditional.
Sustainability is still a key concern for many couples, so choosing natural, wild, seasonal designs will ensure your wedding complements your venue and the time of year – trust your floral designer and be open to including plants, greenery and dried elements to your wedding florals.
Colour palettes will remain varied but we are seeing a growing interest in jewel tones and brighter, summery shades. Colour drenching, where your colour scheme is inspired by one colour or by several closely related colours, is a key wedding trend in 2025. Textures will also continue to play a huge part in wedding décor, with draping, fabric signs and menus all being used to add a more personal, sumptuous bespoke touch. And don’t forget to add candles to your styling budget – tapered dinner candles will always elevate a room and help create an elegant ambience.
Wedding Trend #3 Having a good time
Ensuring guests are having a great time is a pressing concern for most couples, so think about your guests’ experience and make sure you select suppliers who have the creativity to do things a little differently. There are many ways to entertain your guests while photographs are taking place or the evening celebrations are getting going – mini-golf, illustrators, poetry writing, pick-pocket magicians, bespoke cocktails bars, musicians and dancers are just some of the ways to add a personal twist to your wedding day. Think about the style of your day and ensure that everything from the way canapes and drinks are served to the evening entertainment all dove-tail into the way you want your guests to feel at your wedding.
Trend #4 Old School Photos
Film photography is also having a resurgence in 2025. For those too young to remember what cameras were like before the digital age, film photography uses a roll of film that is loaded into a camera. The photographer uses the camera shutter to expose the film to light and capture photographs. Not every image will be perfect, which gives the photos a more raw, natural feeling. Couples looking for romantic, nostalgic style photographs are opting for film photography, alongside a digital package in order to authentically capture key moments on their wedding day.
Unofficial trend: to thine own self be true
Polonius wasn’t talking about marriage when he tells his son “To thine own self be true”, but it’s an apt quote for this occasion; remember: this is your special day! Discuss what is important to you as a couple when you are planning out your wedding day – which elements of your personalities and the things you love doing do you want to include in your wedding celebrations. Keep these in mind as you scroll through Instagram, Tik-Tok and Pinterest for inspiration and when you attend wedding fairs or venue open days – you will be bombarded with ideas and can quickly start to believe your wedding will not be complete without all the trends you are seeing.
My top tip with regards to wedding trends is to avoid trying to include too much in your wedding, particularly if you’re on a tight budget. Select a couple of things that will make your wedding personal to you and focus on doing them really well. But ultimately, to paraphrase the legendary Charlotte Tilbury, “It doesn’t matter what’s trending, celebrate your own style and do whatever makes you feel great.”
